The Sunshine Coast Private Hospital rates in top 10 hospitals: HCF survey

05-09-2014

The Sunshine Coast Private Hospital at Buderim has been rated in the top 10 hospitals in Australia based on a survey of patient experiences by Australia’s largest not-for-profit health insurer, HCF.

More than 11,000 HCF members across Australia participated in the survey which scored the hospital a 9.2 out of 10. This score was based on HCF members rating from 0 to 10 on how likely they would be to recommend the hospital to a friend or colleague based on their experiences.

General Manager of The Sunshine Coast Private Hospital at Buderim, Wallis Westbrook, said that he was thrilled to hear how our patients rated the Hospital.

“This recognition by HCF and its members demonstrates that our hospital delivers nation leading, high-quality person-focused care to our patients all day, every day,” Mr Westbrook said.

“I’m extremely proud of the hospital’s commitment to our patients on the Sunshine Coast - this fantastic result proves that we are fulfilling our mission to deliver excellence in healthcare to promote the health of our patients and the good of the community.”

This independent recognition supports our own survey findings which also delivered fantastic results for The Sunshine Coast Private Hospital at Buderim.

“More and more the evidence confirms our commitment to excellence and that this hospital is a great place to work and the best place in our region to receive first-class healthcare,” Mr Westbrook said.

“Being the only hospital on the Sunshine Coast to be rated top 10 in the country is a great honour and will help us to continue improving our service and patient satisfaction.”

Continuing a practice of annual patient satisfaction surveying that started in 1994, HCF’s 2013 survey focussed on the top 100 hospitals by volume (84 – private; 16 – public) that HCF members attend each year. The primary aim of the survey is to drive improvements in hospital quality via member feedback.

The Sunshine Coast Private Hospital at Buderim is part of UnitingCare Health, which also administers The Wesley Hospital and St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital in Brisbane and St Stephen’s Hospital in Maryborough and Hervey Bay.

In the HCF survey, St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital ranked in the top 10 hospitals in Australia for the medical team recommendation scores. This score was based on the same 11,000 HCF members who also responded on the likelihood of them recommending the medical team that treated them to a friend or a colleague.

“The achievement of two UnitingCare hospitals ranking in the top 10 reinforces that all UnitingCare Health hospitals are increasingly meeting and exceeding customer expectations,” Mr Westbrook said.
