Registrations are open for the 7 Sunshine Coast Marathon for 2017 and the Rockers for Knockers team invite you to join the team and run or walk the course over any distance.
Pencil in Sunday 20 August and come along for a fun day in support of a great cause. All proceeds from the Rockers for Knockers team will be donated to The Sunshine Coast Private Hospital Cindy Mackenzie Breast Cancer Program which provides a range of free services to Sunshine Coast families affected by breast cancer.
Breast cancer survivor and Rockers for Knockers founder, Ruth D’Hennin, said her friendly team welcomes anyone who would like to run for a reason and support their local community.
“We’d love you to join our team and help us flood the course in a veritable sea of pink!,” Ms D’Hennin said.
“I think you’ll have a great experience as part of the team and feel a great sense of personal achievement once you complete the course in support of a cause that I have seen help many of our friends, family and neighbours here on the Coast,” she said.
Among the Rockers for Knockers team members will be Maroochydore Councillor, Jason O’Pray, who will run the course in support of his mum who is currently battling breast cancer.
“I'm so very proud of what the Sunshine Coast Marathon has done for our charities, our local business and the promotion of our region,” Councillor O’Pray said.
“Mum was diagnosed with breast cancer last year and has been tough as nails through all the treatment,” he said.
“I want to do the entire 42kms as a life challenge whilst raising a few bucks so I’d really appreciate your support.”
