BPH Christmas Gift Appeal CSDTeams at Buderim Private Hospital have come together this Christmas to give hope to 38 families in need who are being supported by UnitingCare’s Family and Disability Services branch in Maroochydore.

Buderim Private Hospital has a long tradition of helping local families in need and have been busy digging deep in recent weeks to purchase gifts and hamper items to ensure they are delivered in time for Christmas.

Clinical Nurse Manager of Ward 4B, Tracey Shuttlewood, said her team are purchasing presents for two different families they have ‘adopted’ this year.

“Working in healthcare the last couple of years has been difficult but participating in this gift appeal reminded us how fortunate we are and it has been wonderful to come together as a team at this special time of year by giving to families who are struggling,” Tracey said.

‘We really enjoy selecting presents based on the genders and ages of the families we are supporting. It is very special to give back to our neighbours right here on the Sunshine Coast to help make their Christmas a little brighter,” she said.

BPH Christmas Gift Appeal Ward 4BBuderim Private Hospital Chaplain, Theo Masselos, said the hospital has a long tradition of giving to families in need, and the team looks forward to the Christmas Giving Appeal every year.

“Even though our focus is healthcare and looking after those entrusted to our care, we are aware of the importance of being part of our broader community,” Theo said.

“We hope this expression of generosity from our team inspires others to also reach out to help in whatever way they can,” he said.

General Manager, Shane Mitchell, said he was very proud of the hospital team for their generosity.

“I am honoured to lead this hospital and its 850 members of staff who respect and value our mission to ‘help people to live life in all its fullness’, whether it’s in our wards or in our neighbourhoods,” Shane said.

“I hope these heartfelt gifts help provide hope and healing to all of the 38 families we are supporting this Christmas,” he said.

As part of UnitingCare, the Buderim Private Hospital is owned by the Uniting Church and is the only not-for-profit provider of private hospital services on the Sunshine Coast.
