About the Cardiac Catheter Theatre

Cardiac Catheter Theatres, sometimes know as a ‘Cath lab’, are designed for minimally invasive tests and procedures to diagnose and treat a range of cardiovascular disease using real-time imaging.

Interventional cardiology involves cardiac catheterisation – the insertion of a small tube through an artery up into the heart to repair valves, insert stents and more. It is used to treat heart conditions such as congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, structural heart disease and vascular disease. Common interventional procedures provided at Buderim Private Hospital include coronary angioplasty and insertion of devices such as Pacemaker.

Our services are supported by highly qualified specialist cardiologists and electrophysiologists, an intensivist service, and specially trained nursing staff. Our cardiac team work in collaboration with our Critical Care service including Intensive Care.
