Dr Petra Ladwig
After graduating with an Honours in Medicine from the University of New South Wales in 1989, Dr Ladwig obtained a Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 1992. She went on to complete specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology at Nepean Hospital in Sydney and Royal Hospital for Women, Melbourne. She obtained her Fellowship from The Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2000. She completed a Graduate Certificate in Counselling at The Institute of Counselling, Sydney in 1998.
She undertook locums in Sydney, Rockhampton and Broken Hill before settling on the Sunshine Coast in 2000. She set up the Suncoast Women’s Centre, aiming to provide comprehensive care to women of all ages. Dr Ladwig consults monthly in Caboolture and Gympie with her main rooms located in the Sunshine Coast Surgical and Specialist Centre in Birtinya.
Dr Ladwig treats all common problems found in the female such as abnormal/heavy periods, abnormal pap smears, fibroids, ovarian cysts and endometriosis. She has a particular interest in fertility, prolapse and incontinence and vulval disorders. She is experienced in the full range of vaginal, hysteroscopic and laparoscopic surgical options. Minor vulval lesions can be treated under local anaesthetic in the rooms as can the majority of abnormal pap smears.
