Dr Vanessa Watson is a general gynaecologist who shares consulting rooms with Dr Nerida Flannery in central Buderim.

Dr Watson studied at the University of Queensland, completing a Bachelor of Biomedical Science and then Bachelor of Medicine, graduating in 2011.

The foundation of her specialty training was on the Sunshine Coast, and she gained further tertiary experience the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and worked regionally in Hervey Bay. During her training, she achieved the highest national score in the RANZCOG Oral Examination, receiving the Award for Outstanding Achievement.

She was recognised as a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in February 2022 and has been employed full time as a staff specialist obstetrician and gynaecologist at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital since. She opened her private practice in gynaecology in 2024.

As a general gynaecologist, Dr Watson cares for her patients with the highest calibre of expertise across a large breadth of concerns. Her holistic care for women and people assigned female at birth means that their concerns are thoroughly addressed, collaborating with subspecialties as required.

Vanessa is actively involved in education in her field. Locally, she teaches gynaecology trainees a broad range of operations at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, including mentoring senior trainees learning advanced laparoscopic surgery.
