Breast care nurses
A breast care nurse is a registered nurse who has undertaken special training to be able to provide information, support and care for women of all ages who experience breast disease. As a member of a broader multi-disciplinary team, a breast care nurse can provide you with a range of services.
Whether you are attending a Screening or Diagnostic Clinic, you will have the opportunity to meet with a breast care nurse to discuss issues relating to your breasts, and to raise any concerns you may have e.g. the risk factors relating to family history of breast cancer.
For women who may be diagnosed with breast cancer, a Breast Care Nurse will contact you to offer support, information and ongoing assistance for you and your family. You can access this assistance any time from diagnosis, following surgery and during subsequent treatment. You can also be advised about accessing information appropriate to your needs within your community.
