The Buderim Private Hospital Auxiliary recently celebrated its 40th anniversary and its long contribution to the staff and patients of the hospital.
The Buderim Private Hospital Auxiliary is made up of a group of dedicated locals who volunteer their time and fundraising skills to support patients and staff alike. They bring a special touch to hospital stays by looking after the many details that help to enhance Buderim Private Hospital’s signature comfort and care.
General Manager, Shane Mitchell said, the Auxiliary has provided a vital link between the hospital and the community for more than 40 years.
“It is wonderful to celebrate a remarkable journey of service and dedication and there is no doubt the Auxiliary’s commitment to our hospital community is an inspiration to us all,” he said.
“We can look back on these four decades, and be reminded of the many lives the Auxiliary has touched and the positive changes it has brought. Their tireless efforts, both big and small, have left an indelible mark and I would like to offer my heartfelt thanks for their time and dedication to helping others.”
The Auxiliary was formed in September 1983 when the then Matron Brazier asked local women to form an Auxiliary to provide ancillary services to the hospital.
It included attending to flowers, transport for patients, patient visiting, banking, shopping, and attending to personal laundry and attending to facials and hairdressing by Helen Walker, a now Life Member.
Gail Mackenzie, current President of the Auxiliary said she was proud to continue the long tradition of the Auxiliary.
“We continue to fundraise with lunches, card days and fashion parades, and provide items such as ‘Buddy Bears’ for children, and craft items to maternity, and wards where older patients are having difficulties settling,” she said.
“As the President in our 40th year I consider it to be a privilege to lead a wonderful group of women who continue to give of themselves for the wellbeing of patients and staff of the hospital.”
Theo Masselos, Pastoral Care Manager, shared a blessing as part of a special event held to mark the milestone.
“As we look forward to the future, we see many possibilities, knowing that your passion for service remains unwavering. May your legacy continue to inspire generations to come, as your work echoes through time,” he said.
“And may the next chapter of your life be filled with even further achievements, new adventures, and the same boundless enthusiasm for making the world a better place. May your journey ahead be as bright and fulfilling as the path you've walked thus far.”
“We celebrate you, not just for the years of service you've given, but for the impact you've made. Here's to 40 years of selfless dedication, and to many more years of making our hospital and the community we serve a better place.”
