The PINKTOBER® campaign is held in October each year to coincide with Global Breast Cancer Awareness Month and aims to raise awareness and funds to help support Sunshine Coast families affected by breast cancer.

Lisa Daldy, Program Coordinator, said the program relies on the funds generated through PINKTOBER® to underpin the services it delivers throughout the year.

“Our unique service provides practical and individualised support to people right here on the Sunshine Coast who are doing it tough due to a breast cancer diagnosis,” Ms Daldy said.

“It’s never been more important to go pink, raise money and help make life-changing support possible for people affected by breast cancer,” she said.

“If there was ever a time to find that pink path, grab that pink whisk or dig out that pink tutu, that time is now.”

Local residents are urged to visit pinktober.com.au to donate or find out other ideas for ‘Pink Paths’ they can support to raise funds, including hosting a virtual pink event, wearing pink at your next work or family get-together, or getting active in pink and exploring the beautiful Sunshine Coast.

Community members can also attend the program’s annual PINKTOBER® Movie Night on Wednesday 28 October at Event Cinemas Maroochydore.  Tickets are $30 and include a private screening of the new Australian film RAMS and a glass of sparkling wine, beer or soft drink. Tickets can be purchased by visiting pinktober.com.au

The Cindy Mackenzie Breast Cancer Program was established in 2007 in honour of Sunshine Coast mum Cindy Mackenzie who sadly lost her battle with breast cancer in 2006, aged 39. The program has been administered by Buderim Private Hospital since 2015.

The program is available to all Sunshine Coast residents diagnosed with breast cancer – applicants do not need to be patients of the hospital.
