Dr Michael MacPherson is a Specialist General Physician with an interest in Acute, Perioperative and Palliative Medicine. He provides inpatient and outpatient services in General Medicine with rooms on site.
Dr MacPherson graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2013. He has trained at highly regarded teaching hospitals in Glasgow, Bristol, Melbourne and the Sunshine Coast. Prior to moving to Australia in 2017, Dr MacPherson gained Membership to the Royal College of Physicians in the United Kingdom. During his five years in Melbourne, he gained valuable experience in Emergency Medicine, Anaesthetics and Cardiology and was awarded Eastern Health BPT Physician of the Year following his performance in the RACP examinations. In 2022, he moved with his young family to complete his training at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital and received Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
Dr MacPherson has a strong academic background, with several publications, quality improvement projects and abstracts in general medicine, cardiology, sports medicine, perioperative medicine and patient safety. His Advanced Training project assessing intravenous magnesium in rapid atrial fibrillation was published in the Journal of American Cardiology and helped improve patient care.
Recently, Dr MacPherson completed the RACP Palliative Care Diploma. He is an advocate for the positive impact early and holistic care can provide patients when navigating life-limiting conditions. Dr MacPherson also has a passion for providing evidence-based perioperative care.
