Doctor Details

Dr Saskia Olivier is a General Physician with a special interest in Obstetric Medicine. She is inspired by the breadth of humanity that she encounters in her daily practice and employs her empathetic communication style and evidence-based management to assist patients to engage in their healthcare and achieve excellent outcomes.

Dr Olivier obtained her primary medical degree with high distinction at Stellenbosch University in South Africa in 2009. She gained valuable generalist experience in rural and academic hospitals in South Africa before emigrating to Australia in 2014.

Dr Olivier trained in hospitals on the Sunshine Coast and in Brisbane before receiving her fellowship in General and Acute Care Medicine in 2024. This training included subspecialisation in Obstetric Medicine. Her research interests include the sustainable use of investigations in medicine as well as hypertriglyceridaemia in pregnancy. During her training she was involved in junior doctor education and work-based assessment for international medical graduates.

Dr Olivier enjoys the full spectrum of General Medicine, with a particular focus on complex, undifferentiated presentations, and the management of multimorbid patients with competing therapeutic needs. She also welcomes referrals for preconception counselling and pregnancy care for women with medical conditions who are planning to deliver at Buderim Private Hospital.

Dr Olivier has two young children and a GP husband and values providing care close to home. She is bilingual, speaking fluent Afrikaans.
