Sofia Buen

Adeluiesa (Sofia) Buen is registered as a Clinical Psychologist in Australia and in New Zealand.
Through her work in public and private practice, Sofia is experienced in providing assessment and psychological support to address a range of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, anger issues, sleep disorders, neuro-developmental conditions, personality disorders, and relationship difficulties.
Her special interest is in the psychological treatment of PTSD and CPTSD. Sofia’s work with veterans and their families at the Australian Government Department of Veterans' Affairs has given her a nuanced understanding of military life.
Drawing on evidence-based psychotherapy approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Prolonged Exposure, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Trauma Focused-CBT, and Compassion-Focused Therapy, Sofia provides a safe, caring, and collaborative approach to building resilience.
Prior to training as a Psychologist, Sofia worked in the Australian Government for 12 years, mostly in the delivery of services to remote Indigenous communities of the Northern Territory, and in providing assistance to refugees and asylum seekers.
She holds a Graduate Diploma in Psychology, a Bachelor of Psychological Sciences (Honours - First Class) and a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology.
